History of FujinoyaCake Shop, Japan

In 1950, Mr.Hideyoshi Goto opens Fujinoya cake shop at Gifu-ken Japan. The shop and production facility is located on a mountain, which gives it a good source of fresh and natural ingredients that gives its Japanese cakes a very natural taste. In 1978, the eldest son of the founder is the second generation family member to join the business as a chef. Mr. Hideo Goto brings with him his love and expertise of western style cakes. In addition to the traditional Japanese cakes, Mr. Hideo Goto gives Fujinoya an added dimension by using Japanese techniques to makewestern style cakes. He sticks to theFujinoya tradition of using only the freshest ingredients and goes to great lengths to source out the best ingredients all over Japan.

In 1990, Fujinoya introduces what will become their most popular product to date. Seasonal Japanese cakes that uses ingredients that are at their best during each of the 4 different seasons. Yomogi mochi for spring, Houba Mochi for summer, Kurikinton (Chestnut Cake) for autumn and Nowakino Nagori (Dried Persimmon Cake) for winter.
In 1999, a third generation, Mr. Takahiro Goto joins Fujinoya and contributes not only his know-how in making cakes, but also tech savvy that will integrate the business to the internet era. Fujinoya starts selling their products online and makes its cakes available to all parts of Japan (www.fujinoya.net).
